Terms of Use

Last updated

Using ytmp3 means accepting what is set out below. It is short, because the service is simple: you paste a link, a file comes back, and nothing else passes between us.

What the service is

ytmp3 takes the address of a video and returns a file. The conversion is performed by a third-party service; this site is the interface to it. No video is hosted here and nothing is stored between visits.

The service is offered free of charge and without an account. That also means it is offered without any promise that it will be available tomorrow, or that any particular video can be converted.

What you may use it for

Use it for material you have the right to download: your own uploads, work published under a licence that permits it, and work that has entered the public domain. Where you have the copyright owner's permission, use it for that too.

Copyright in a video belongs to whoever made it, and YouTube's own terms do not permit most of what is on the platform to be downloaded. Deciding whether a particular download is lawful is your responsibility, not ours, and it is a decision you make before you paste the link, not after. If you hold rights in something and want it taken down, how to send a claim is set out separately.

Do not use the service to infringe anyone's rights, to work around technical protection measures, or to redistribute what you download in a way the licence does not allow.

Fair use of the service itself

There is no daily cap and none is planned. What is not welcome is automated hammering of the endpoints, attempts to overwhelm the service, or any use designed to make it unavailable to other people. We may decline requests that look like that.

No warranty

The service is provided as it is. It may be unavailable, it may be slow, a conversion may fail, and a file may not be what you expected. No warranty of any kind is given, express or implied, including as to fitness for a particular purpose.

Because the conversion is performed by a third party, its availability is outside our control, and so is the content of anything it returns.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of this service, including lost data, lost time, or any consequence of a file you chose to download. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

These terms may be revised. The date at the top says when they last were, and continuing to use the service after a change means accepting the revised version.
